KENSINGTON – The Kensington Moase Plumbing and Heating Vipers will continue to fine tune their game for the upcoming Island Junior Hockey League playoffs on Wednesday.

That’s when the Vipers will host the Holland College Hurricanes in their second-last game of the regular season at Community Gardens. The opening faceoff is set for 7:30 p.m. This game was originally scheduled for Sunday night, but was postponed due to the weather.

The Vipers, who take a 16-7-1 (won-lost-overtime/shootout losses) mark into the game, have already clinched first place and home-ice advantage throughout the playoffs. The Hurricanes, who are last in the five-team league, come in at 9-15-0.

The Hurricanes and fourth-place Montague Maniacs, who took an 11-14-0 resumé into Tuesday’s game against the Arsenault’s Fish Mart Western Red Wings (14-10-1), will meet in a best-of-five quarter-final series. The winner of that series will go on to face the Vipers in the best-of-seven semifinal series.

The Vipers clinched top spot with a convincing 10-2 win over the Sherwood A&S Scrap Metal Falcons (14-10-2) on Friday night.

Grant Grady is expected to get the start in goal for the Vipers, who will close out the regular season with another makeup game at home against the Hurricanes on Sunday at 7 p.m.
