Take 2-0 series lead

TYNE VALLEY – The North River Flames have pushed the Tyne Valley Clover Farmers to the brink of elimination in the Razzy’s P.E.I. Junior C Hockey League playoffs.

The Flames downed the Clover Farmers 5-2 on Monday night to take a 2-0 lead in the best-of-five quarter-final series. The Flames can sweep the series with a win on home ice at the APM Centre in Cornwall on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.

At the Tyne Valley Community Sports Centre, the Flames took a pair of three-goal leads – 4-1 and 5-2 – into the two intermissions.

Cameron MacMurdo (2-1), Brennan Dalziel, Bradley Vukicevic and Brad Power scored for the Flames. Curtis Grant, Logan LeClair and Max MacDonald added assists.

For the Clover Farmers, Travis Thibideau and Tyler Peters found the back of the net. Single helpers went to Ryan MacArthur and Zach Groome.

Kurt Willis earned the goaltending decision, and Jordan Arsenault was between the pipes for the Clover Farmers. The final shots-on-goal totals were 35-25 in favour of North River.

Referee Steve Dyer called 16 minors against the Clover Farmers while the Flames were assessed seven minors, one fighting major and one game misconduct.

    Ok Clover Farmers dont roll over .You have a major legacy that you are wearing that you are wearing on your jerseys..So go kick you know what. Wyman Sudbury Ont
