The start time for the MHL (Maritime Junior Hockey League) contest at Eastlink Arena is scheduled for 2 p.m.
Fans are reminded that, due to the forecasted snowstorm, the Capitals’ Saturday night home contest against the Yarmouth Mariners was postponed on Thursday. That game will now be played on Sunday, Feb. 24, at 2 p.m.
Assuming Sunday’s game goes ahead as planned, it will mark the Caps’ first action since Feb. 2.
It will also mark the Timberwolves’ final visit of the regular season to Summerside, and the teams are scheduled to play once more in Miramichi – Friday, March 1.
Season series
The Capitals have won the first five head-to-head meetings of the season with the Timberwolves, but three of the games have been decided by just two goals and another by three goals. The scores have been 9-2, 4-2, 3-1, 4-2 and 6-3.
The Capitals take a league-leading 35-7-2-0 (won-lost-overtime losses-shootout losses) record into Sunday’s game. The Timberwolves took a 20-20-1-1 mark into Friday’s game against the Campbellton Tigers.
With the Capitals already having clinched first place in the Roger Meek Division and the Timberwolves in fourth place, six points back of the third-place Dieppe Commandos (22-16-1-3), Sunday’s game could very well be a first-round playoff preview.
Ticket redemption day
Capitals’ season-ticket holders are reminded that Sunday is ticket redemption day. Any unused season tickets for any game up to this point of the season can be redeemed on Sunday.
The Capitals are currently in a slow part of their schedule as they have only one game scheduled for next week – in Campbellton on Wednesday. The Caps will then be off from game action until the weekend of Feb. 23 and 24, when they host two big games against arch-rival Woodstock and the Eastlink Division-leading Yarmouth Mariners.
