Hackett made 40 saves in the Aces’ most important game of the season – a 7-0 shutout over the Southside Lynx – in the regular-season finale on Saturday night. That win moved the Aces past the Lynx into the top seed for the playoffs.
After returning home from out west in November, Hackett has posted a 10-0 (won-lost) record and a league-leading 2.75 goals-against average and .918 save percentage among goaltenders with a minimum of five games played.
Hackett will be a key player in the Aces’ upcoming playoff run.
Kurtis MacEwen of the Belfast Sabres was recognized as the offensive player of the week.
MacEwen had a seven-point night in the season finale against Tyne Valley on Saturday. The Stratford native finished the season second in points with 64.
MacEwen is in his final year of junior eligibility, and in four years has accumulated 160 points. His 2012-13 season was by far his best as his previously best season was 37 points. This year, MacEwen has scored at least one point in 27 of the team’s 28 games.
