The Capitals will visit the Woodstock Slammers in the back end of a home-and-home series. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
The Caps then return home to host the Dieppe Commandos at Eastlink Arena on Saturday. The opening faceoff is set for 7 p.m.
The Capitals are coming off a 4-1 home-ice victory against the Slammers on Sunday, and take a league-leading 34-6-2-0 (won-lost-overtime losses-shootout losses) record into Woodstock. The Slammers, who dropped a 4-3 shootout decision to the Pictou County Weeks Crushers on Thursday night, are 23-14-2-1.
Warner suspended
The Capitals will be without hard-working Luke Warner this weekend. Warner, who was picked up in a trade with the Bridgewater Lumberjacks on Jan. 10, will serve a two-game suspension he received for picking up his third minor penalty for a blow to the head this season on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Capitals forward Danny Chiasson has a nine-point lead over teammate Mitch Maynard in the league’s scoring race. Chiasson, who was acquired in a deal with Dieppe just before Christmas, has 67 points – 23 goals and 44 assists – while Maynard, who has 17 goals and 41 assists, and Colin Campbell (19-39) of the Yarmouth Mariners each have 58 points.
The Capitals, who are averaging 1,186 spectators a game and attracted 1,443 fans to Sunday’s game against Woodstock, are expecting another big crowd on Saturday as momentum and excitement continues to build with the playoffs just around the corner.
