KENSINGTON – Jason Smallman and Jon Cameron led the Kensington Clark Insurance Granites to a 10-4 victory over the Montague Marines on Wednesday night.

The Island Community Senior Hockey League game was played at Community Gardens.

Smallman contributed two goals and three assists while Cameron chipped in with four helpers. Brad Gallant (2-1), Devan Praught (2-1), Marshall Ellis (1-2), Cameron Webster (1-1), Nathan DesRoches and Tyler Murphy also scored for the league-leading Granites, who are now 7-2-1 (won-lost-overtime losses). Trevor Whalen and Dustan Jones added single assists.

Jamie MacIntyre (2), Ryan O’Connell and Josh MacDonald countered for the Marines (3-6-0). Wade Stewart (2), Chad McQuaid (2), Joe Gardiner (2) and Will Johnston chipped in with helpers.

The teams were tied 2-2 after the first period, and the Granites led 6-4 after the second before putting the game out of reach with four unanswered goals in the final 20 minutes.

Tim MacPhee notched the goaltending win.

Referee Thane Arsenault called five of the game’s seven minors against the Marines.
