To face Granites on Wednesday

KENSINGTON – The Montague Marines will return to action in the Island Community Senior Hockey League on Wednesday night.

Topics :

The Marines, who will be playing their first game in a few weeks after taking some time to restructure, will visit the first-place Kensington Clark Insurance Granites. The opening faceoff at Community Gardens is set for 7:30 p.m.

One of the biggest changes with the Marines took place behind the bench as former longtime junior and senior coach Jamie Kennedy has taken over as head coach. Kennedy-coached teams have always been known to have a strong work ethic and play an entertaining and physical brand of hockey.

The Granites, meanwhile, are coming off a thrilling 7-6 win over the Charlottetown Crunch at home last week. That game was not decided until Nathan DesRoches scored the winner with less than a minute remaining in the third period.

Tim MacPhee will get the start in goal for the Granites, and former Kensington Vipers goaltender Travis Willis is expected to get the start for the Marines.
