In IJHL action Sunday afternoon

CHARLOTTETOWN – The Arsenault’s Fish Mart Western Red Wings scored two unanswered third-period goals to pull away from the Holland College Hurricanes on Sunday afternoon.

The Red Wings won the Island Junior Hockey League contest, played at the Charlottetown Civic Centre, by a 6-3 score.

Six different players – Logan Arsenault (1-1), Brandon Carter, Taylor Smith, Tyson Phillips and Ben Johnson – lit the lamp for the Red Wings, who improved to 12-10-1 (won-lost-overtime/shootout losses). Jeremy Balderston (3), Tyler Clair (3), TJ Campbell, Taylor Albert and Cleve McNeill picked up assists.

Luke MacKay, Blake Ozon and Matt Patterson countered for the Hurricanes (9-15-0). Connor Dillon, Brandon Barrett and Eric Locke added helpers.

The Red Wings led 1-0 after the first period, and were ahead 4-3 following 40 minutes.

Connor Shea picked up the goaltending victory over Dylan McQuaid.

Referee Paul Matte called six minors, one 10-minute misconduct, two game misconducts and one gross misconduct against the Red Wings. The Hurricanes were whistled for nine minors, one fighting major, two 10-minute misconducts and one game misconduct.
