North River gets by Tyne Valley

TIGNISH – Slade Handrahan scored four goals to ignite the Tignish Perry’s Construction Aces’ offence in a 9-3 drubbing of the visiting Belfast Sabres.

It was one of two games played in the Razzy’s P.E.I. Junior C Hockey League on Friday night. The other contest had the North River Flames getting by the Tyne Valley Clover Farmers 3-1.

Aces 9 Sabres 3

At the Tignish Credit Union Arena, Jacob LeClair (2), Mitch Doucette (1-2), Ryley Shea (1-1) and Parker Arsenault also found the back of the net. Spencer Gallant, Andrew Doucette and Karter Hackett assisted.

Josh Doran (2) and Jack Panting answered for the Sabres. Kurtis MacEwan, Jeremy Godkin, Ben Nabuurs, Zack MacEwen and Nolan Irving contributed helpers.

The Aces took a 2-1 advantage into the first intermission, and then blew the game open in the middle frame by outscoring Belfast 6-2 for an 8-2 cushion after 40 minutes.

Jake Hackett picked up the goaltending win.

Flames 3 Clover Farmers 1

At the APM Centre in Cornwall, the Flames built period leads of 1-0 and 2-0.

Chris Arsenault (2) and Brennan Dalziel (1-2) accounted for the North River goals while Mitch Girard, assisted by Josh Bernard and Clark Gallant, netted Tyne Valley’s lone goal.

Kurt Willis picked up the goaltending victory with a 15-save effort. Tyler Cameron faced 52 shots in the Tyne Valley goal.
