BELFAST – The Belfast Sabres put an end to the Tignish Perry’s Construction Aces’ five-game winning streak in the Razzy’s P.E.I. Junior C Hockey League here on Sunday afternoon.

The Sabres took a 2-0 lead into the second intermission following a scoreless opening 20 minutes, and then put the game out of reach with four third-period goals.

Jason Whiteway stopped all 51 shots directed his way to record the shutout, including 17 in the first period, 16 in the second and 18 in the third. Chase Dyment faced 41 shots in the Aces’ goal.

Josh Doran (2), Jeremy Godkin (1-3), Kurtis MacEwen (1-2), Cody Garnhum and Jack Panting scored for the Sabres, who improved to 14-8-2 (won-lost-overtime/shootout losses).

The loss dropped the Aces’ record to 17-6-2.

Referee Paul Matte called four minors, a fighting major, a kneeing major and two game misconducts against the Aces. The Sabres received five minors, one fighting major and one game misconduct.
