That’s when the Razzy’s P.E.I. Junior C Hockey League All-Stars will take on a team of league alumni.

A portion of the proceeds from the game will go to support former Charlottetown Abbies player Kyle Osmond, who is undergoing cancer treatment and is unable to play in his last season of junior eligibility.

Osmond played in all three seasons since the Abbies returned to the league in 2009-10, and during that span he was the team leader in goals and points.

Osmond is a fourth-year business student at UPEI, and is scheduled to graduate in May.

"I've currently undergone 11 chemo treatments over a span of seven months, and really my main goal right now, besides school, is to just beat this cancer, get healthy, and get back to my normal life," said Osmond. "I hope the all-star game proves to be a tremendous success, and the junior C league itself continues to grow.

"It’s a great competitive league, and I would have given anything to play in my last season. Perhaps if this game becomes a tradition, I could some day play on the alumni team.”

P.E.I. Junior C Hockey League commission Jared Doucette admits the strength Osmond has displayed in his battle.

"Even under the circumstances, any time I've talked to him he always seems to maintain such a positive attitude,” said Doucette.

Both teams will be wearing the colours of the Abbies, and Osmond will be on hand to drop the puck for the game's ceremonial faceoff.

"I also would just like to mention again how overwhelmed and very thankful for all the support I received throughout my battle with cancer,” added Osmond. “I couldn't have asked for anything more.”

The game's opening faceoff will be at 7:20 that will be preceded with a pre-game ceremony. A donation box for Kyle will be on hand at the front door.
