In a key P.E.I. Junior C Hockey League contest

TIGNISH – The Tignish Perry’s Construction Aces will host the first-place Southside Lynx in a crucial Razzy’s P.E.I. Junior C Hockey League game here at the Credit Union Arena on Sunday.

Topics :
North River

The opening faceoff is scheduled for 7:20 p.m.

Both teams are hot entering this weekend’s play, and the Aces trail the Lynx by five points. Thus, Sunday’s game is important to both games as the Aces look to close the gap while the Lynx hopes to extend that margin.

The Aces continue to put up good offensive numbers, and lead the league with nearly six goals a game. The Aces’ Traven Gaudet (21 goals) and Slade Handrahan (20) are first and third in the league’s scoring race, and both scored Tignish’s only two goals in the shootout of a 5-4 road win over North River last Saturday.

Rob Miller, who recorded eight points in two games last weekend, also holds the hot hand for the Lynx. Miller was named the league’s offensive player of the week.

The Aces’ goaltending duo of Jake Hackett and Chase Dyment continues to impress as the team is second in goals-against average in the league. Hackett recorded the win against North River while Dyment earned the league’s defensive player-of-the-game award by stopping 27 of 29 shots against Morell.

Tignish management reports that veteran Jordan Gaudet will miss the next couple of games with a knee injury.
