Tignish edges Flames in shootout

CORNWALL – The Tignish Perry’s Construction Aces made the most of their shootout opportunities against the North River Flames on Saturday night.

Traven Gaudet and Slade Handrahan scored on Tignish’s first two shots while the Flames’ Bradley Vukicevic and Chris Arsenault failed to beat Aces goaltender Jake Hackett. The final score of the Razzy’s P.E.I. Junior C Hockey League game was 5-4 for Tignish.

In other league action Saturday night, the Southside Lynx defeated the Belfast Sabres 4-1 while the Morell Crunch trimmed the Tyne Valley Clover Farmers 9-2 on Friday evening.

 

Aces 5 Flames 4 (SO)

At the APM Centre in Cornwall, Handrahan (2), Jordan Gaudet (1-1) and Karter Hackett (1-1) scored regulation-time goals for the Aces. Gaudet (2), Rylie Shea (2) and Spencer Gallant assisted.

Chris Arsenault (2), Brad Power (1-1) and Vukicevic netted the North River goals. Keir Campbell (2), Dan MacPhee (2), Brennan Dalziel (2) and Dakota Vessey set up the goals.

The teams were tied 1-1 after the first period, and the Aces took a 3-1 advantage into the second intermission.

Taylor Doyle tended goal for North River.

 

Lynx 4 Sabres 3

At the South Shore Actiplex in Crapaud, the Lynx rallied from a 2-1 deficit after two periods.

Chad Murphy (2-1), Rob Miller (1-2) and Justin Pinksen lit the lamp for the Lynx, who received other helpers from Cody Dawson, Connor Kelly, Joel MacIsaac and Spencer Dougay.

Josh Doran (2) and Kurtis MacEwen accounted for Belfast’s scoring. Jack Vandenbroek (2), Jeremy Godkin (2), Cody Garnhum and Will Buell chipped in with helpers.

Winning goaltender was John Miller.

 

Crunch 9 Clover Farmers 2

At the Morell Community Rink, Spencer VanDiepen’s five assists keyed the Crunch attack.

Tyler Brown (2-2), Mark McKenna (2-1), Ben Miller (2), Nick Ryan (2) and Bruce Jay dented the twine for the Crunch while Tyler Peters netted both Tyne Valley goals.

Morell held period advantages of 4-1 and 7-2.

Jordan Jay picked up the goaltending win.
