Summerside Storm

SUMMERSIDE – The Summerside Storm have signed Omari Johnson, a Second Team NBL All-Star last season with the Oshawa Power.

Johnson joins the Storm from the D-league of the NBA where he was a fifth round draft pick by the Canton Charge.

Last year, Johnson was the second leading scorer on the Oshawa Power, and fourth in NBL, scoring 17.5 points per game. He had his best game in point production against the Storm last season when he scored 29 points on Feb. 1.

He currently holds the league record with 250 field goals made in one season and league record for blocks at 57.

A native of Los Angeles, California, the 6'9" forward played his college ball at Oregon State University where he was a four-year starter for the Beavers.

Johnson played in 120 games during his college career, eighth all-time at Oregon.

In his senior year he led the team in rebounding while finishing 12th in the PAC 10.

He is expected to play for the Summerside basketball team on Boxing Day against the Halifax Rainmen.

Meanwhile, the Storm, in partnership with the City of Summerside, has launched "STORM PLAYDAY 2012" from 1 to 4 pm on Dec. 27. STORM PLAYDAY 2012 is free and open to everyone. PLAYDAY 2012 will feature all Storm coaches and players.

"STORM PLAYDAY" is part of a busy Christmas Week with Storm home games today (Boxing Day) at 2 p.m., Friday at 7 p.m., and New Year's Eve at 7 p.m.

"Catch the Holiday Spirit" Package

The Storm is offering the Christmas Ticket Package "Catch the Holiday Spirit" for Christmas gift giving for three Storm games over the Holidays. "The three-game package for Dec. 26, 28, and 31 offers all three games at 33 per cent off the regular price.

Christmas BOGO

As well, there's the Storm Christmas BOGO Pack which is good for all three games over the Christmas Holidays. Storm fans can purchase a ticket for one of the three games and get a second ticket at no charge for another of the holiday games.

The Storm will be holding a "Meet and Greet" for season ticket holders prior to the game on Friday, at courtside beginning at 5:15 p.m. Season ticket holders are invited to come and to meet the Storm players, coaches and owners, take a dressing room tour and enjoy some pizza and refreshments.
