Aces' game on Sunday postponed

CRAPAUD – The Southside Lynx and North River Flames recorded victories in the Razzy’s P.E.I. Junior C Hockey League on Saturday night.

The first-place Lynx doubled the Morell Crunch 8-4, and the Flames handed the Tyne Valley Clover Farmers a 5-3 setback.

Sunday night’s game in Tignish between the host Perry’s Construction Aces and Belfast Sabres was postponed due to a death in the West Prince community. The game will be made up at a later date.

At the South Shore Actiplex in Crapaud, Chad Murphy (2-1), Cody Dawson (1-3), Joel MacIsaac (1-1), Rob Miller (1-1), Connor Kelly, Andy Murphy and Kevin Hodgkins scored for the Lynx. Spencer Dougay (2), Tyler Allen (2), Alex MacLeod, Craig Flood and Chrone McVitte chipped in with assists.

Zack Gould (1-2), Darcy Nicholson (1-1), Owen Wilson and Nick Ryan replied for the Crunch. JD Farrell and Luke MacDonald added single assists.

The Lynx held period leads of 3-2 and 5-3.

Overall, the Lynx held a slim 39-37 shots-on-goal advantage. Winning goaltender was Dylan Garnhum.

Flames 5 Clover Farmers 3

At the APM Centre in Cornwall, five different players – Brad Power (1-1), Cameron MacMurdo, Keir Campbell, Brennan Dalziel and Drew McInnis – dented the twine for the Flames. Single helpers went to Jeremy MacAulay, Justin Holroyd, Brad Vukicevic, Dakota Vessey and Spencer Hay.

Mitchell Phillips, Tyler Peters and Cody Arsenault countered for Tyne Valley. Tanner Murchison, Clark Gallant, Devon DiJulio and Travis Thibideau added assists.

The teams were tied 2-2 after the first period, but the Flames took a 4-2 advantage into the second intermission.

Overall, the Flames outshot the Clover Farmers 39-30. Taylor Doyle earned the goaltending win.
