TIGNISH – The Tignish Perry’s Construction Aces will host the Belfast Sabres for the second time in nine days on Sunday.

The Razzy’s P.E.I. Junior C Hockey League game, which will be played at the Tignish Credit Union Arena, will get underway at 7:20 p.m.

Both teams go into weekend action tied for second place, but the Aces do hold a game-in-hand.

If the last meeting between the two teams is any indication, then fans should be treated to a great hockey game. Both teams showed lots of character in that game as the Aces stormed back from a 4-1 deficit to take a 6-4 lead, only to have the Sabres score two late goals to force overtime. Tignish eventually prevailed in the rough-and-tumble affair 7-6.

Four-goal effort

Aces forward Slade Handrahan received the Regal Cresting player-of-the-game award in that match after a four-goal performance. Handrahan has moved to within one goal of the league leaders, Josh Doiron of the Sabres and Tignish’s Traven Gaudet.

Handrahan also was named the league’s offensive player of the week while his linemates, Riley Shea and Spencer Gallant, have been hot as well. Shea and Gallant have recorded 15 points in their last three games together.

Tignish management reports that Brett Gaudet will be making his season debut this weekend while veterans Dillon Arsenault, Connor McRae and Alex Brennan are all scheduled to return to the lineup.

This will be the Aces’ last action before Christmas, and the team wishes everybody a Merry Christmas and safe and happy holiday season.
