SUMMERSIDE – Ralphy Holmes is headed south.
Summerside Storm coach Joe Salerno announced today that recently acquired guard has accepted an offer to play in Venezuela.
In a release issued today, the Storm officials admitted they were disappointed with the decision, but wish Holmes well in his future basketball endeavours.
Salerno said players of Holmes' calibre are sought by leagues worldwide and while he's disappointed about Holmes leaving, he's pleased with his team's effort in a big win over the weekend in Halifax which Holmes missed with a thumb injury.
Salerno looks forward to the team continuing to work hard with the talent he has in maintaining top spot in the Atlantic Division of the NBL.
The Storm play two more games on the road, Dec. 21 in Halifax and Dec. 23 in Saint John, before coming home for three games at Credit Union Place between Christmas and New Year's.
