The final score of the Island Junior Hockey League match was 6-5.

After the teams played to a 1-1 tie in the first period, the Red Wings scored the only three goals of the middle frame to take a 4-1 advantage into the second intermission. The Red Wings, though, refused to go quietly, and the Red Wings needed a short-handed goal into an empty net with 20 seconds remaining to seal the win.

Brett Adams (2-1), Jeremy Balderston (2-1), Brandon Carter and Taylor Albert found the back of the net for the Red Wings, who improved to 6-5-1 (won-lost-overtime/shootout losses). Tyler Clair and Cleve McNeill each chipped in with two assists.

Brandon Birt (1-1), Craig Dougan, Patrick Brazil and Kyle MacKinnon answered for the Falcons (9-3-1). Helpers were credited to Brady Cook (2), Trevor MacKinnon and Connor Lea.

Chris Gallant picked up the goaltending win, and Devon Cudmore took the loss. Overall, the Red Wings outshot the Falcons 38-24.

Referee Paul Matte called nine of 17 minor penalties against the Red Wings, who also received one checking-to-the-head 10-minute misconduct.
