SUMMERSIDE – The host committee of the 2013 RBC Cup Canadian junior A hockey championship tournament released the official schedule on Wednesday.

Topics :
RBC , Maritime Junior Hockey League , Credit Union Place

The host Summerside Western Capitals will play the Central representative in an evening contest on Day 1.

The eight-day tournament kicks off on Saturday, May 11. The round robin will conclude with the Caps taking on the East representative on Thursday, May 16, at 7:30 p.m.

There are no games scheduled for Friday, May 17, with the two semifinals set for 2 and 6 p.m., on Saturday, May 18. The semifinals will feature the first-place team taking on the fourth-place team while the second- and third-place teams clash. The first-place team will have the choice of what game time they want.

The championship game is scheduled for Sunday, May 19. The start time will be announced later.

Host committee chair JP Desrosiers says the ticketing packages make excellent gifts heading into the holidays.

“Full event packages are extremely affordable for that ultimate hockey fan you’re trying to buy for,” said Desrosiers.

Desrosiers adds that with a strong host team, fans should be coming out now to see the team prepare for the national championship.

“The Caps are ranked No. 13 in the CJHL (Canadian Junior Hockey League) right now,” said Desrosiers. “It’s time to start filling up Eastlink Arena like the community did back when the Caps hosted and won the RBC Cup in 1997.”

Tickets for the event are now on sale at www.cupevents.ca. Businesses wishing to become involved with Vault Packages, which include 20 flex tickets, should call Chantal at Credit Union Place at (902)-432-1234.

The Capitals’ next home game in the MHL (Maritime Junior Hockey League) is against the Amherst Ramblers at Eastlink Arena on Friday. The opening faceoff is set for 7 p.m.
