At Oyster Bed Speedway
OYSTER BED BRIDGE – Although there may be a two-time Daytona 500 winner driving in the Advance Rentals 150 at Oyster Bed Speedway on Saturday night, championship points will be on the minds of the regular drivers in the Parts For Trucks Pro Stock Tour.
Sterling Marlin, who won the 1994 and ’95 Daytona 500 races, is scheduled to drive the No. 13 King Racing entry on Saturday. Marlin, who is from Columbia, Tenn., has 748 NASCAR Cup Series starts and 10 wins to his credit.
Three past series champions currently hold down the top-three positions in the tour’s points standings. Three-time champion John Flemming of Halifax, N.S., is in first place, followed by another three-time champion, Shawn Tucker of Fredericton, N.B. Shawn Turple, the 2009 tour champion, is in third place. Turple is from Enfield, N.S.
Just 28 points separate the former series champs heading into Saturday’s race.
Prince Edward Island drivers expected to start in the Advance Rentals 150 are Robbie MacLean (01) of Winsloe; Jonathan Hicken (5) of Brudenell; Kent Vincent (8) of Westmoreland; Terry Dougay (14) of Albany; Greg Proude (19) of Springvale; Chris Hughes (32) of Brackley Beach, and Dylan Gosbee (91) of Cornwall.
