S’side wins opening game at Quebec tournament

QUEBEC CITY – The Summerside Capitals, who are representing the P.E.I. Rocket at the 53rd annual Quebec international peewee tournament, won their opening game on Friday.

The Capitals, who are competing in the International B Division, defeated Quebec Quest Amabassade 4-3 at the Pepsi Colisee, the former home of the Quebec Nordiques.

Carson MacKinnon (1-1), Noah Dobson, Zach Thususka and Alec MacKinnon scored for the Capitals. Jeremy McKenna chipped in with two assists.

Evan Richard earned the goaltending win.

Summerside routed the Atlanta Flames 11-0 in an exhibition game on Saturday.

The Capitals will play an exhibition game against the Carolina Hurricanes on Tuesday, before resuming tournament action against the Ohio 99s on Wednesday morning.

    I'm pretty sure you actually need to submit a story (especially with Novice kids) to have it published. I can't imagine that the Journal would have the resources to fallow every single minor hockey team. Nice to know that C'town actually has a team that can win a game though. Did you need directions to find your way to Summerside?

      The team came from Summerside and not Charlottetown.The team also represented the island...Where do you come from.Read your papers the right way...They were ina 2012 International Tournament in Quebec.Do you also want directions?

    That's great but what about the Edd Mcneill Memorial Tournament that was held this weekend at Credit Union Place. Did not see any mention of this tournament. These little novice teams worked their heart out and did not get recognition that they deserved. Shame on you!!!!!! By the way THE CHARLOTTETOWN ABBIES WON. Maybe that is why it was not mentioned.
