Carter played at University of Kentucky

SLEMON PARK – The Summerside Storm of the National Basketball League of Canada has added a seven-foot-two centre from Georgetown, Ky.

Topics :
University of Kentucky , Premier Basketball League , National Basketball League of Canada , Trezevant , Summerside

Jared Carter, who played his college basketball at the University of Kentucky, was defensive player of the year in the Premier Basketball League (PBL) last year. He was also named to the second All-League team, and made the All-Defensive team.

Carter was signed to fill a roster spot left vacant when  six-foot-10 centre Xavier Hansbro of Trezevant, Tenn.,  left the Storm over the weekend to return home for personal family reasons.

Storm head coach and vice-president of personnel Joe Salerno said he was disappointed to see Hansbro head home, but understood perfectly why he had to leave.

Road games

The Storm, off to a 2-0 (won-lost) start in regular-season play, will play two road games over a four-day stretch this week. The Storm visits the Saint John Mill Rats on Thursday night, and the Halifax Rainmen on Sunday afternoon.

The Storm’s next home game at EastLink Arena is against the Mill Rats on Thursday, Nov. 17, at 7 p.m. The Moncton Miracles then visit Summerside on Friday, Nov. 18, at 7:30 p.m.

Fans can catch Storm road games on the web by visiting the National Basketball League of Canada website at nblcanada.ca

For tickets, fans can visit the Credit Union Place box office daily between noon and 8 p.m., phone the box office at 432-1234, or purchase online at www.cupevents.ca.

No, you are not sorry Jimmy. If you were, you would lighten up or at least offer some suggestions, rather than bold and rude insults about the community many of us are proud of. You are entitled to your opinion. But please keep rude insults to yourself. PS. This conversation amongst 2 or maybe 3 people proves how pointless and innacurate these pathetic comment sections are. Obviously they are not reflective of 15,000 residents! Journal, please give this some thought. Don't let 3 complainers damage our community's reputation. Thank you.

No the real danger is when guys like Dear Jimmy and Enough is Enough are allowed to dictate who writes what and what content is suitable and what is not, this is Canada 2011, not Germany in 1939, who are you to say? And figure out the difference between rude and ignorant before you go on about anyone brainiacs.

Why is the so-called "Jimmy" regularly allowed to post rude remarks? As a local business owner I seriously question the validity of such ignorant comments and can't understand why this is allowed? What message does this send about our business community (not to mention potential ads for this publication)? Sign you real name Jimmy What's His Name!

This is not Jimmy--first of all. Most people do not sign their real name because they do not want to attract the nuts to their doorsteps. I remember once someone argued that point and gave their real name and within minutes their street number was given. It's the information age. AND, is your name really "Dear Jimmy and Journal Editor"? I'll Google you as soon as I post this....

I agree with Dear Jimmy....It is getting ridiculous the amount of trash that this paper is allowing on it's site. Its getting so that I don't want to pull up an article any more because of all the negative nonsense that is permitted to be printed. Your disclaimer below states: We ask that users remain courteous. You may not post insulting, discriminatory or inappropriate content, which may be removed at our discretion. When is the Journal going to start living up to it's own expectation. It's time to shut down the Jimmy's and Billy's of Summerside and start using some common sense. Enough is enough!
