The National Basketball League (NBL) of Canada team held an inter-squad game at Westisle Composite High School on Saturday night to conclude a busy opening week.

"We're just focusing more on concepts, building chemistry and trying to get guys on that same page," said Storm head coach Joe Salerno. "Saturday night, at Westisle, was a lot of fun. But obviously guys were not completely playing on that same page, so that's what we're focusing on this week."

While the Storm held two on-court sessions a day last week, they are having just one daily session at the Canada Games Sports Centre in Slemon Park this week. However, players have started weight and boot camp training this week.

"The mornings are busy and we practise in the afternoons from 2:30 to 4:30 daily," added Salerno.

Three players released

The Storm's training camp roster has been reduced to 14 with the release of Jr. Austin, third-round draft pick and Canadian Tyrone Mattison and Calvin Jenkins, who won the slam-dunk contest during Saturday's inter-squad game.

"We potentially could have another player coming in this week," said Salerno. "My hope is to have it down to 12 for that last exhibition game against Saint John on Oct. 26."
