SUMMERSIDE - Summerside Storm head coach and vice-president of player personnel Joe Salerno announced the signing of six-foot-six small forward Michael Dale on Monday.
"Mike brings a veteran attitude, and a lot of pro experience from playing overseas," commented Salerno. "He is also very familiar with FIBA rules, something many of our guys have not experienced yet."
The Storm is a member of the National Basketball League of Canada.
Dale, 27, hails from Chicago, Ill., and he played his collegiate ball not far from there at Southern Illinois University. Since then, he has played professionally at some of the highest levels in Austria, Hungary and France. Dale most recently played for Kecskemeti Univer in Hungary's A Division during the 2009-2010 seasons, where he averaged 15 points and six rebounds per game. During the 2008 season, Dale averaged 26.4 points and six rebounds per game in helping lead UBSC Graz in Austria's A Division to a Bundesliga league championship.
"He can really score the basketball in a variety of different ways. He is someone I have had my eye on for quite some time now, and I am thrilled we were able to get this deal done." Storm head coach Joe Salerno
