SUMMERSIDE - Tobins Star made it three wins in a row after claiming the Monday afternoon Labour Day feature in 1:58 flat at Red Shores at Summerside Raceway.

P L Betterway placed while Hutchinson Hanover completed the triactor in the $2,000 pace in Race 13.

Walter Cheverie was in the bike for the victory for trainer and co-owner Philip Doucette of Miscouche and co-owner Tom Lynch of Summerside. Cheverie returned to action after being sidelined for months following shoulder surgery.

Tobins Star, who has a lifetime mark of 1:55.2, led at every station. Fractions over the fast-rated racing surface were 28.2, 59.4 and 1:28.4.

Other winners on the 14-dash card were:

Stone Cold Bluff (2:04.1), Kaileys The Name (2:02.1 - a maiden record), Big Oster (2:01), Pembroke Fella (2:02.1 - maiden record), Aria Aria (2:01.4), OK Chivas (2:01 - new race-win record), R ES Miss Jen (2:00.1 - new race-win record), Triage (1:59.4), Rich Raider (1:59), Porthill Galaxy (2:00), Indy Seelster (1:58.4), Lucky In Love (1:59) and Courtside (2:00).

 

Three driving wins

Marc Campbell and Brodie MacPhee recorded driving triples while Gary Chappell and Mark Bradley each scored twice to add to their season win totals.

The total live handle was $14,272.

Live racing returns to Summerside on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park offers racing on Thursday and Saturday at 7 p.m.
