DIEPPE, N.B. - The Dieppe Commandos handed the Summerside Western Capitals a 7-1 setback here at the Arthur J. LeBlanc Arena on Thursday night.

The Commandos jumped out to a 2-0 lead while outshooting the Caps 23-8 in the opening period. Dieppe increased that margin to 5-1 following 40 minutes.

The final shots-on-goal totals were Dieppe 48 Capitals 34.

 

Hat trick

Sean Killaire scored a hat trick to lead the Commandos. Single goals came off the sticks of Dillen Thériault (1-3), Adam Cann (1-2), Justin Norris (1-1) and Adam Guy.

Adam Wight scored unassisted for the Capitals, who fell to 2-1 (won-lost) in pre-season play.

Scott Cyr started in goal for Dieppe, and allowed one goal on 17 shots through the first 29:44 of the game. Mario Babineau stopped all 17 shots he faced over the final 30:16. Robin Stewart played the first two periods in goal for the Capitals, allowing five goals on 36 shots. Logan Reid stopped 10 of 12 shots in the final 20 minutes.

The Capitals were assessed 10 minors, one double minor for spearing and two fighting majors. The Commandos picked up eight minors and two fighting majors.

The game’s three stars were:

1. Sean Killaire (Commandos), 2. Dillen Thériault (Commandos), 3. Adam Cann (Commandos).

The Capitals’ next exhibition game is against the Miramichi Timberwolves on Sunday. Game time at Credit Union Place is 7 p.m.
