SUMMERSIDE – Tobins Star dominated the Wednesday night feature while establishing a new race-win record over a fast-rated racing surface at Red Shores at Summerside Raceway.

The five-year-old bay gelding won the $1,800 pace in Race 11 by approximately 10 lengths while stopping the clock in 1:55.2. It was also the fastest trip of the 12-dash card. Tobins Star cut out fractions of 28, 56.2 and 1:26.

 

Big night for MacPhee

Brian MacPhee drove the five-year-old bay gelding for owners Philip Doucette of Miscouche and Thomas Lynch of Summerside. Doucette also does the training.

Courtside placed and Raging Leru finished in the show position.

The victory capped off a driving triple for MacPhee, who also won with Tanks A Lot (1:59.3) and Indy Seelster (2:01.2).

Gary Chappell and Marc Campbell each notched driving doubles.

Other winners were:

Big Ossister (2:06 – a maiden record), Royal Val (2:00.4), OK Chivas (2:02.2 – a maiden record), Shy Boy Hershey (2:00.4), Funs New Lady (2:01.4 – a new race-win record), In Cahoots (2:00.1 – new race-win record), Paid In Silver (1:58 – a new race-win record), Braceforthechill (2:00) and Pan Cushion (1:57.3.

Live racing returns to Summerside Raceway on Monday. Post time for the annual Labour Day program is 1 p.m.
