Defining the truth

To the Editor,
An oft-quoted scripture passage says “Know the truth and the truth shall set you free.”  Aldous Huxley, famed author of Brave New World, responded with “Know the truth and the truth shall make you mad.”

Some Islanders have been trying valiantly to present the truth about the humanity of the developing unborn child. The reactions are interesting.

If we take ‘mad’ to mean ‘angry,’ then Huxley was right. Because those in our brave new world who want the right to abort unborn children for any reason at all, get very angry when presented with the truth.

If we use ‘mad’ in the sense of ‘irrational,’ then Huxley was even more accurate, for the arguments and reactions of pro-abortion advocates and activists are most certainly irrational.

The real truth will lead to a search for life-giving solutions for both mother and child. Anything less will lead to death in one form or another.  Either way, we will all be affected.
