The public is being ignored

Are we being heard or ignored on the topics of private well water, the deep-water well moratorium, and pesticides?

Why does P.E.I. have one of the highest cancer deaths in Canada? Why do we see bees that seem sick and can hardly fly and are getting very scarce? What’s happened to all of the bats?

I truly believe pesticide spray has a lot to do with it.

I have a relative that ended up in the hospital many times from the sprays if they didn’t let her know they were spraying in the area so she could head to the cottage, away from it.

I don’t have a proof on this yet; but I believe some of my breathing problems come from pesticide sprays; and by the way; I don’t smoke; never did.

It seems to me they must spray even on windy days, as many times sprayers are seen, tanks loaded, and on the go, rushing by.

Like we’ve heard and read, run off affects our ground water; which is what we drink. Once our water is gone people, it’s gone for good and will never make a comeback as long as we live.

My husband and I do not wish to have the deep-water well moratorium lifted. But even with all of us that’s against this – who’s going to win? No one is listening to us!

We are a big percentage of the people that absolutely don’t want it. I truly believe a lot of people talk privately about these matters, but are scared to speak out in case of being struck down someway. Oh yes; what about all of these experts they bring in, to study and do all these tests that we heard on the news just today; which is behind closed doors; and very private; and “confidential?”

This Government will bow down to the threats of the large corporation. It is the Island way. Why do you think it is that we the public cannot see the recommendations?. Because it is a done deal. Who paid for the recommendation report? Was it the Government? Was it the Potato Board? or the Large corporation? Doesn't matter which of the three, the outcome has probably already been settled. Just remember that if the 300 deep water wells do not produce larger potatoes the people demanding the wells will leave anyway . Greed has no boundries as we can attest to by the actions of individuals and elected officials.
