To the Editor,
Millions of dollars are being spent to promote 2014 – the 150th anniversary
of the Charlottetown Conference. Apparently, it's not enough.
An editorial cartoon in the Summerside Journal-Pioneer on June 24 decried the
expense this year "to celebrate Canada's 150th birthday."
Wait a minute! Canada's 150th birthday is 2017 – three years from now.
The cartoonist didn't see anything wrong. What's more, the editors who approved
the cartoon were too busy to see it wasn't right.
Hopefully, 2014 is getting more attention from everyone else – especially,
given all the millions spent on promotion.
