To the Editor,
I recently read where the province increased property taxes by two per cent. This will cause more hardship I think on Islanders already burdened with heavy taxes.
I believe the reason we are seeing our taxes continually being raised is because of irresponsible overspending in the past.
Projects like transportation minister Robert Vessey’s Plan B Highway and the Dirt Hills of Borden-Carleton seem to be a few of these examples. It seems these are the reasons these tax rates are being sneaked up. I really think if it wasn’t for reckless spending we would have a lot lower taxes.
It just seems like we have a bad news government and it doesn’t seem like it’s going to be better any time soon. It’s no wonder a large number of young Islanders have to move away from home. I think it’s because of governments like our present provincial government that make it this way and it’s unfortunate in my opinion.
