We have learned Dr. Madigane has health problems and has left Tyne Valley for treatment. We would like to express our feelings in an open letter.
My wife and I are growing old and now live among our children near Newmarket, Ont., but for 12 wonderful years we lived and played on beautiful P.E.I. Our hobby farm was near Grand River and Stewart Memorial was our hospital. Dr. Madigane was our doctor.
Dr. Madigane was and continues to be all that Vi sees in doctors who matter as well as a caring personal friend as an extension to her professional relationship. At one point Dr. Madigane saved her life when minutes counted. My gentle wife would fight tigers for this woman and win.
I saw her turn Stewart Memorial Hospital on end for me when I was hospitalized from a serious car/truck accident, unable to get out of bed much less walk. No one was quite sure where that was going. I walked the halls, or at least tried, while others slept. No one took notice by reason of her insistence that my fight to get better would be uninterrupted and given leeway.
She might not have been everything in the way of doctors with specialties, but as a human being and a love of her job and community, she was important; as important as anyone can ever be.
So God bless and help her.
