Participants have chance to win Jeep while helping hospital

A fundraiser to support the Prince County Hospital Foundation, Grass Roots and Cowboy Boots takes place in Eastlink Arena at Credit Union Place in Summerside on Saturday.

Georgia Ellis, centre, and Brad McCarthy, left, will be joined by colleagues from Scotiabank branches all over Prince County to take calls at the Grass Roots and Cowboy Boots fundraising dinner and auction this Saturday night, from 7 to 9 p.m., live on Eastlink TV. McCarthy and Ellis are joined by event organizer Warren Ellis, who hopes to raise the largest amount to date with this event.

The event begins with a social at 4:30, lobster dinner at 5:30, followed by a live auction and entertainment leading into the live telecast at 7 p.m. on Eastlink TV.

Once again the public can watch from home and phone in donations to the program as the Prince County Hospital Foundation fundraiser takes place.

This year the Foundation needs to raise $1.25 million for priority medical equipment for the Prince County Hospital.

Phone lines will open at 7 p.m. on Saturday night; call (902) 724-3402 during the telecast to donate or to purchase a ticket on the draw for a new Jeep Wrangler Sport donated by Summerside Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram.

“We are truly thankful to all of those who call in, to all of our volunteers and to Eastlink for televising the event,” said Warren Ellis, organizer of the evening.

The event, now in its sixth year, has raised nearly $1.3 million for Prince County Hospital Foundation’s equipment fund since inception in 2009.

The evening’s entertainment will include the Johnny Oliver Band, Neon Moon, Brett and Zak, Full Circle and the Somerset Dance Studio.
