WOODSTOCK -- Members of the Federal Conservatives’ Atlantic caucus have arrived at the Rodd Mill River Resort for two days of meetings which take place Thursday and Friday.

Optional activities on Wednesday included golf and deepsea fishing.

Federal Fisheries minister Gail Shea is hosting the summer caucus session in her Egmont riding. With the Island’s year to host the summer caucus coinciding with PEI2014 celebrations of the 150th anniversary of the Charlottetown Conference, Shea said a 2014-themed activity, a unity panel involving an MP from every province and territory, is planned for Friday morning. Panelists, she said will highlight their regions’ potential and challenges during the session.

The Conservatives Atlantic caucus meets weekly when the house is in session and once every summer.

The caucus consists of 13 Members of Parliament and 14 Senators. With spouses and staff, Shea estimates the event is bringing about 100 people to the West Prince resort.

Shea described the Thursday and Friday sessions as an opportunity for MPs and senators to obtain information and update on various items. Various industry representatives will be making presentations to the caucus during the sessions.
