ALBERTON -- Going from a climate where temperatures often ranged between 30 and 40 degrees to a Prince Edward Island winter with temperatures in the minuses took come adjustment Anna Gallant told the large crowd attending Alberton’s Multicultural Street Party recently.

The temperature, and no longer having access to rice dishes three times a day were among her biggest adjustments in moving here from the Philippines, Gallant admitted.

But moving to P.E.I., she continued, “it was the best thing I did in my life.” She credited her husband, children and good friends with helping her make the transition.

The day included demonstrations, food samples, piñata-smashing, entertainment and sidewalk sales.
