The provincial coroner’s office is investigating the death of a man found lying on the ground at UPEI Sunday night.

Police say foul play is not suspected at this time but the official cause of death has yet to be determined by the coroner’s office.

An autopsy was conducted Monday afternoon, says Chief Coroner Charles Trainor.

Charlottetown Police Deputy Chief Richard Collins says police were called to the university at about 8 p.m. Sunday.

A 41-year-old Cornwall area man was lying on the ground next to the fire exit at Dalton Hall.

EMS personnel worked on the man at the scene. He was then taken to hospital.

Hospital staff spent close to 30 minutes trying to revive the man before he was pronounced dead.

Collins says the man was not a native of P.E.I. nor was he a student or faculty member of the university.

Police have not been able to determine at this point under what circumstances the man was at the university.
