The fencing that once surrounded the baseball field in the Lefurgey subdivision will be heading to the Greenfield ball diamond this fall.
J P Desrosiers, director of the community services department, said the fencing is in storage and will be put up at the Greenfield baseball field in the fall.
“The Greenfield baseball field, which is one of the most utilized fields for slo-pitch in the city, requires an outfield fence,” he said. “Last year, the outfield fence was in such disrepair we had to have it removed. So, the outfield fence from Lefurgey will be going to Greenfield to put a new outfield fence there. We’ll likely get it installed this fall.”
The removal of the fencing at the Lefurgey field, has been a contentious issue for residents in the area, many claiming the move by the city to take down the fence was not made with any consultation with the users of the field.
