ST. PETERS — A 50-year-old Head of Cardigan man faces impaired driving charges after being stopped leaving the St. Peters Blueberry Festival dance in the early-morning hours Sunday.

Kings District RCMP stopped the man, who was driving a pickup truck, in St. Peters around 2 a.m.

RCMP observed the truck cross the centre line of the roadway. After further investigation, the man was arrested for impaired driving.

He was taken to Souris RCMP where his breath samples indicate blood alcohol levels almost twice the legal limit for a driver of a motor vehicle.

The man was released on documents for a court appearance later in August in Georgetown provincial court.

RCMP said that summer is a time for celebration, which often times includes.

As a result, these months are especially busy for police in apprehending impaired drivers and they appreciate the public's continued assistance in keeping Island roadways safe.
