CHARLOTTETOWN — Two community groups will benefit from this year’s P.E.I. Liquor Control Commission wine cooler raffle.
For the last five years, the PEILCC has held the annual raffle and, this year, the proceeds will go to assist the work of the Stars for Life — Foundation for Autism and the P.E.I. Association of Food Banks.
This latest raffle offered the chance to win one of 23 prize packages consisting of a free standing wine fridge and a variety of Ontario VQA wines. More than $13,000 was raised for the two charities during this annual fundraiser.
“The funds received from this campaign come as welcome support for those living with autism and those who care for them,” said Lisa Gallant, director of the Stars for Life — Foundation for Autism.
“We appreciate the continued support of the community and the PEILCC, and we are pleased to be able to distribute these funds to help feed Islanders across the province,” said Mike MacDonald, general manager of the P.E.I. Association of Food Banks.
Stars for Life — Foundation for Autism works to safeguard the future of Island children with autism by providing integrated living and learning opportunities during the course of their lives.
Food banks in this province see more than 42,000 visits every year. The P.E.I. Association of Food Banks uses the results of its annual HungerCount to allocate the donated proceeds to each of its association member food banks.
