Hospice holding volunteer training sessions

SUMMERSIDE — The East and West Prince Chapters of Hospice P.E.I. will be offering training sessions from Sept. 16 to Oct. 14 at Prince County Hospital.

The sessions will run Tuesday and Wednesday evenings from 7- to 9 p.m. for a total of nine sessions.

Anyone from across the Island is invited to take part in the training.

The training will address such topics as: introduction to hospice palliative care; the role of the volunteer; effective communication skills, family and family dynamics, emotional/psychological/spiritual/physical issues and support; pain and symptom management; caring for people at home; grief and bereavement; and, self care.
