BLOOMFIELD -- Post tropical storm Arthur only temporarily delayed installation of new playground equipment at Bloomfield Elementary School. The equipment from Kangoroo Playground arrived last week and volunteers were all lined up for a weekend build before Arthur started churning towards the east coast.

Volunteers lay the base pieces of what will become one of two new accessible playground structures on the Bloomfield Elementary School playgrounds. Installation started this morning and is expected to be completed Wednesday.

Construction was postponed until today.

Gwen Clements with Bloomfield Home and School said about 40 volunteers have signed on to help with the build of two playground structures, the culmination of three years of intense efforts to fundraise $90,000 for children's enjoyment. Many were supplying tools and equipment to help with the installation.

Installation of the accessible playground structures is expected to be completed Wednesday with the laying of wood fiber matting.
