SUMMERSIDE - Motorists will still see traffic lineups on their approach to Reads Corner today. Traffic heading onto Summerside from the south (from Bedeque) was backed up to Schurmans Point Road, but the road construction flag men were moving the vehicles through rather quickly.
Motorists were experiencing only about a five-minute delay.
Work seems to be progressing quickly though, as the new surface in the section of Route 1A at Reads Corner is nearly complete.

  • SAY IT AGAIN

I'll say it again. PEI, especially the Summerside area has two seasons. WINTER and ROAD REPAIR. Every year we go through the same think. Thousands upon thousands are spent to lure tourist here then the entire area has virtually every area with the boundries blocked for repairs. Repairs that should be done BEFORE or AFTER the tourist season but apparently that cannot be done here as EI doesn't run out until mid June and new claims start after Labour Day, hence no workers available.
