O’LEARY CORNER -- A woman suffered a deep cut to her right forearm Wednesday afternoon when the truck in which she was a passenger collided with a compact car. She was taken to hospital by Island EMS for treatment.
Corporal John McBride said the preliminary investigation suggests the compact car crossed the centerline on a curve in the Kelly Road, near O’Leary Corner and struck an oncoming three-quarter ton Dodge Ram truck near the driver’s side rear axle, causing the truck to tip onto its side. He said the female passenger either sustained the cut from broken glass or from her arm coming in contact with the ground.
The 911 call indicated possible entrapment, but the three people from the two vehicles were out of their vehicles when emergency personnel arrived on scene.
Neither driver was injured in the collision. McBride said the airbag, deployed in the car, possibly helping to prevent injury to its driver, the vehicle’s only occupant.
O’Leary Fire Department, Island EMS, West Isle Towing and Transportation Department personnel assisted RCMP at the scene.
