Judy Harvey received a score of 70 per cent in the competitive equestrian sport, which took place on June 7 and 8 at the Crapaud Agriplex.
Dressage P.E.I. chairman Ken Mellish said it went very well and this year’s number of participants had doubled.
“We were delighted to have 42 riders and horses from the three Maritime provinces. Although the weather on Saturday was cold and wet, all riders were at the top of their game,” said Mellish.
He said they are fortunate to have an Islander win.
As well, Cindy Matheson from Tea Hill had the overall high score in the Fédération Équestre Internationale Prix St. George class with 66 per cent.
The overall junior winner in the Bronze Show was Dominique MacEwan from New London, who received 63 per cent.
Haley Greenbank from Fredericton had a score of 67 per cent and was the overall adult winner in the Bronze show, and the overall junior winner in the Gold Show was Alyssa Gaudet from Memramcook, N.B. with 66 per cent.
Mellish said Islanders and people from other provinces make a lot of positive comments about how much effort the Crapaud Agriplex puts into the events.
“They do an absolutely wonderful job.”
The next dressage show will take place in Crapaud on July 5 and 6.
“If you like horses, it’s the ideal place to be,” he said.
