TIGNISH -- Tignish’s fourteenth annual Festival in the Park has raised $7,700 for the IWK Children’s Hospital.
After rain moved the festival indoors for the first time last year, organizers were so pleased with the turnout that they decided to hold this year’s event in the Tignish Credit Union Arena regardless of the weather.
It turned out to be a good move as the weather outside would have been downright chilly for the entertainment and other activities.
This year’s contribution brings the festival’s fourteen-year total for the IWK to nearly $67,000. Proceeds will be presented this weekend during the IWK telethon. The Island portion of the May 31 and June 1 telethon will be based out of Confederation Landing Park in Charlottetown.
Activities Sunday in Tignish included air bounce for the children, face paintings, visits from famous cartoon characters, teddy bear clinic, fishpond, raffles and lots of local entertainment.
