The Exceptional Care Odyssey kicked off May 13 on a 66-day whirlwind car trip. A red Ford Explorer decorated like a Shriner’s Fez, tassel and all, goes from the Hospital in Montreal to Atlantic Canada, the north eastern United States, eastern Canada and all the way to British Columbia where the voyage culminates in Victoria.
The tour will be in Kensington on Saturday, May 24, as part of the town’s 100th anniversary celebrations. The tour will be part of the town’s parade starting at 2 p.m.
The tour will also make stops in Halifax, Truro, Pictou, Baddek and Sydney, Nova Scotia.
The Exceptional Care Odyssey is an opportunity to raise awareness of the specialized orthopaedic care provided to infants, children and teens in such things as scoliosis, brittle bone disease, club feet, hip dysplasia and rhizotomies.
The Exceptional Care Odyssey is also a chance to unveil the new hospital and the myriad of ways it will improve patient care thanks to larger clinic areas, twice as many operating rooms and more space for physiotherapy and occupational therapy.
