Woman struck by transport truck expected to recover

BLOOMFIELD -- The 28 year-old woman from Lennox Island who was struck by a transport truck while walking on Highway 2 near Bloomfield Corner Saturday night is expected to recover from her serious injuries, RCMP report.

The collision occurred about a half kilometer west of Bloomfield Corner around 11:30 p.m. Saturday. The woman was transported by Island EMS to Prince County Hospital and then airlifted to the Queen Elizabeth II Hospital in Halifax where she is being treated for her injuries.

Although the matter remains under police investigation the RCMP reports that no charges are being considered at this time.
