Prince Charles and his wife Camilla leave Grand Parade after the official welcoming ceremony.
The couple’s plane was expected to arrive at 6:05 p.m. from Trenton, N.S., but didn’t touch down in Charlottetown until about 6:45 p.m.
Lt.-Gov. Frank Lewis, Premier Robert Ghiz and other dignitaries greeted the couple as they left their plane after spending the day in Pictou and Halifax.
Cameron Gordon was at the airport to present the royal couple with flowers.
Gordon is a Birchwood Intermediate School student who played in a basketball game against rival Queen Charlotte Intermediate School in January after both sides gave him the chance to shoot during a game.
After leaving the airport the couple was headed to Fanningbank to rest before going to Province House at 8:30 p.m. for Victoria Day celebrations.
