Female pedestrian in hospital after being struck by tractor trailer

BLOOMFIELD CORNER -- A 28 year-old Lennox Island woman is in the intensive care unit of the Queen Elizabeth II Hospital in Halifax after the pedestrian was struck by a tractor trailer along Highway 2, near Bloomfield Corner late Saturday.

West Prince RCMP and Island EMS were dispatched to the scene around 11:30 p.m. The woman was transported to Prince County Hospital and subsequently airlifted to Halifax. An RCMP spokesman said Sunday the woman suffered numerous broken bones and is in stable condition.

The driver of the truck was not injured..

The investigation into the collision is continuing.
