STRATFORD – Two men were arrested by RCMP Queens and Kings District Street Level Drug Enforcement Units and Stratford Municipal Detachment members following a search and seizure operation at a suspected drug house, Thursday night.

A 25-year-old Stratford resident was arrested by Queens District investigators while, at the same time, Kings District members moved in on a 21-year-old Bethel resident who police believed to be a drug courier operating in Stratford and working in partnership with the other man.

Several thousand dollars in cash was found in his possession. A firearm was also seized.

Both accused have been released on an undertaking to appear in provincial court at a future date.  Both males face a number of criminal charges under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act for possession of the purpose of trafficking and trafficking.

“Oxycontin and Percoset are often the drug of choice for addictive use and can easily lead to dependency," said Constable Geoff Corbett of the Queens District Street Level Drug Unit. “The abuse and misuse of pharmaceutical drugs throughout P.E.I. is of concern to police and from a public health perspective. There is a direct correlation between prescription drug abuse and criminal activity and threatens the health and well being of those who become addicted. Please help reduce the number of prescription drugs such as opioids, on our streets and in our communities.”
